Some traditions are worth carrying forward.

Since 1955, the Kempenaar family has welcomed and honored members of the U.S. Naval War College community through an annual family clambake—a tradition spanning generations and rooted in hospitality, gratitude, and service.

This week, the Karam and Kempenaar families once again came together in Middletown to continue that tradition and celebrate this year’s Naval War College graduates, including officers representing the United States and nations from around the world.

As Rocky Kempenaar welcomed guests and First Bristol Corporation Founder and Chairman Jim Karam reflected on the many years they’ve shared this tradition, it was a meaningful reminder of what community can look like: gathering around a table, building relationships, honoring service, and showing appreciation for those who lead.

For First Bristol and the Karam family, being part of this longstanding tradition is especially meaningful. We are grateful for the relationship and partnership our families have built over the years, and to the Kempenaar family for welcoming us into a tradition that has meant so much to their family and the Naval War College community for generations.

It is a privilege to help carry that tradition forward.

Hospitality is, and always will be, a relationship business.

Recently, some of our First Bristol sales teams came together for a day of sales calls, new connections, and collaboration.

While each hotel has its own market, we succeed by working as one portfolio. We share ideas, celebrate wins, learn from each other, and support one another every step of the way. That collaborative culture keeps us growing and helps our hotels continue raising the bar.

As highlighted by Worcester Business Journal, our future Hampton Inn in Washington Square will build upon the success of the Homewood Suites by Hilton Worcester and further strengthen First Bristol’s hospitality presence downtown.
