Let's be real about what $300k actually gets you in Farmington (or Hills) right now.
Not the polished version. The honest one.
At $300k, you're likely looking at a 3 bed, 1.5 bath, 1000 sq ft home in the northeast of Grand River/Orchard Lake. If you're open to condo's, your location options are much greater, but so is your monthly payment (association fees). Additionally, cost is likely well below $300k, but you're almost surely only going to get 2 bedrooms.
It's not nothing.
But it's also not what the lifestyle content on your feed makes it look like.
Here's what I tell every buyer who comes to me at this number:
You can have the location or the space. You can have the updated kitchen or the extra bedroom. You can have the quiet street or the walkable block. Rarely all of it at once — and that's okay, as long as you go in knowing which one matters most to you.
The buyers who feel good about what they got at $300k are the ones who made that decision on purpose. The ones who feel like they settled are the ones who never had that conversation before they started looking.
Farmington (Hills) is a hot market. The good ones tend to go pretty quickly. The one's left sitting at this price- they may need some updates here and there. There are good moves at every budget. But they look different depending on what you're actually willing to prioritize.
