While inspecting a residence for a first-time home buyer, it was brought to my attention that repairs had recently been made to the deck support structure and that it had been inspected after the repairs were made. At first glance, it was apparent that this was an unsafe structure. The new repairs were not supported properly, installed properly, or used proper fasteners to secure the deck. Deck screws were used to attach the new wood support beam, which does not have the strength to support the deck. There are misaligned beams with unsupported connecting points.
