Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
🎄☃️🎅🤶🥛🦌🛷🎶💕🔔🕯️🍪
'Twas the night before closing, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The contracts were signed by the chimney with care,
In hopes that the new homeowners soon would be there.
The listings were nestled all snug in the file,
With visions of sold signs making me smile.
And the staging was perfect, each room a delight,
Knowing potential buyers would visit that night.
The properties were ready, all polished and clean,
With hopes that a bidding war soon would be seen.
And I, with my clipboard and keys in my hand,
Had just settled down for a deal-making stand.
When out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the foyer to see what was the matter.
Away to the window, I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the newly paved driveway below,
Gave the lustre of midday to the objects in tow.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a moving truck and eight eager buyers near.
With a determined driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment, this deal would stick.
More rapid than eagles, the offers they came,
And I whistled and shouted and called them by name.
"Now, Cash Buyer! Now, Mortgage-Preapproved!
On, Down Payment! On, Escrow and Move-In Approved!
To the top of the porch, to the top of the wall!
Now dash away, dash away, dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the roof, the offers they flew,
With pockets full of earnest money and contracts too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof,
The prancing and pawing of each eager hoof.
As I drew in my head and was turning around,
Down the chimney, the new homeowners came with a bound.
They were dressed all in excitement, from their heads to their feet,
And their clothes were all tailored, so stylish and neat.
A bundle of keys they had flung on their backs,
And they looked like successful professionals, opening their packs.
Their eyes—how they twinkled! Their smiles, how merry!
Their dreams of homeownership, they were ready to carry.
The closing was smooth, like a well-tuned machine,
And I smiled when I saw it, a successful home-buying scene.
A wink of my eye and a twist of my head,
Soon gave them to know they had nothing to dread.
I spoke not a word, but went straight to my work,
Securing the paperwork, then turned with a jerk.
And laying my finger aside of my nose,
And giving a nod, to the door I arose.
They sprang to the entrance, to their team gave a whistle,
And away they all went like the down of a thistle.
But I heard them exclaim, ere they drove out of sight,
"Happy homeownership to all, and to all a goodnight!"
