🏡 Don’t Believe Everything You See Online, Especially When It Comes to Real Estate

I was recently reading about a digital creator who went viral after questions were raised about several of her professional claims, including claims that she was a licensed real estate agent in Georgia and North Carolina.

The situation got me thinking about something every buyer and seller should know:

You can verify whether someone is actually licensed to sell real estate.

Real estate isn’t a career where someone can simply call themselves an agent and start representing buyers and sellers. Real estate professionals go through extensive and ongoing classes, education and training and are licensed by the state, and those licenses are public record.

A beautiful social media page, even home tours, a large following, or someone simply calling themselves a real estate professional does not replace credentials, experience, or accountability.

When you’re trusting someone with what may be one of the largest financial transactions of your life, you deserve to know exactly who you’re working with.

Before hiring an agent, verify their license.

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) allows you to search for a real estate professional by name or license number and see their license information, including whether their license is currently active.

And remember, a license is only one piece of the puzzle. Ask questions. Ask about their brokerage. Ask about the resources available to them. Know who is guiding you before you trust someone with your home, your money, and your future.

We had a great time at the Wildlight Back to School Event. We stopped and grabbed a dirty soda and dirty strawberry soda from Easy Peasy Sips & Eats as well as 2 cake pops. It was all great, will definitely try some more items from this small business! I definitely recommend following them and checking them out!

Unfortunately, right after we grabbed our drinks it started pouring rain. Absolutely pouring. We got soaked. So there are no more photos. But we are glad to have been able to attend and support our local community!

Continuing on my mission to try local spots around Nassau County to bring you local recommendations and information, we stopped by Breakable Hearts Bakery right here in Yulee yesterday! If you've been wanting to try the viral fruit pastries, cups of cake and other sweets this is a great local option without having to drive to Jacksonville.

They are located off 200, just past Walmart on the left (if you're headed towards the island). You turn on Blackrock road to park in their parking area, or if you're like me you miss the turn and have to do a u turn! The interior is beautiful, it has seating for about 4 at a table and a large bench for sitting as well. The staff was kind and helped recommend some items to me and my children.

We tried three of their "cups of cake" in double chocolate, red velvet, and lemon raspberry. My favorite by far was the lemon raspberry. It had layers of lemon curd and raspberry filling, and the bright, fresh flavors worked so well together. It was definitely the best dessert for me! My middle son picked this flavor, as we both love lemon, and it is his favorite as well out of our choices.

The chocolate and red velvet were good, but they had a much more subtle sweetness than I expected. Truly everything did, none of these items were super sweet in flavor. They reminded me a bit of dark chocolate or desserts made with less sugar. If you don't enjoy overly sweet treats, that may actually be something you'll love.

For the pastries, we tried the mango and the peach cobbler. The mango was good, but the peach cobbler peach pastry absolutely stole the show! It had an amazing peach filling paired with what tasted like a cobbler-style filling that really reminded me of peach cobbler. It was delicious!

"Thats a vacation, not a life. You have always lived here. You cant up and move to the beach and create a brand new life alone." - they said

"You're crazy. Do you think you're going to just go lay on the beach everyday? Thats not real life. What are you thinking?" - they said

"They" might say a lot of things. But you know your heart and where you're called to be. Some of you, like me, stood in the sand and knew in your heart you were meant to build a life here. In a place where your car is filled with sand all weekend, not leaves and snow. In a place where your daily commute involves seagulls instead of turkeys around the car. Somewhere that let's you walk the beach in the evening after dinner and not on your treadmill.

I took that leap in 2023 and it was the best thing I ever did. I have a happiness I didnt know was available for me when I lived in Northwest Georgia. Do not get me wrong, I LOVE Rome, Georgia (and Rockmart ) and visit often. It's a beautiful area with much to offer but after living there for 20 years I knew it was time to come back to my salty, sunny roots.

If you've been seeing those viral fruit-shaped pastries all over social media, I finally found a local spot that's absolutely worth the hype!

One of our newest favorite finds is Eleon Pizza & Pastry in River City Marketplace. It's only about 10 miles (roughly a 15-minute drive) from Wildlight, making it an easy little weekend treat. They're known for their beautiful fruit-shaped mousse pastries that look almost too pretty to eat.

We liked it so much... we ended up going both days this weekend!

My favorite was the lemon, and the mango was a very close second. The outside has a thin shell with a slightly crunchy coating, then it melts in your mouth. The creamy mousse paired with the fruit filling is incredible. We also tried the Blueberry and Cloud Nine (pineapple and strawberry), and honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them.

We also ordered the Napoleon, and it was exactly what you'd hope for. Light, flaky pastry layers with rich cream and custard that wasn't overly sweet.

The Oreo croissant was packed with cookies and cream filling and was delicious, but it was definitely rich enough that my boyfriend and I ended up sharing it. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you'll love it!

If you're looking for something different for date night, celebrating a special occasion, or just want to treat yourself, I'd definitely add this place to your list.

🥤 Looking for a quick, healthy bite after the gym, while you're running errands, or with the kids? I've got another local favorite to share!

One place we've recently rediscovered is Smoothie King in Yulee. We stopped in after the gym one day looking for something light to hold us over until dinner, and we honestly forgot how good smoothies can be. Safe to say we'll be making this one a regular stop!

My daughter ordered the Kids Choc-A-Laka Smoothie, and it seriously tasted like a melted fudge pop. She absolutely loved it!

I had the peanut butter toast topped with peanut butter, strawberries, blueberries, and bananas on a thick slice of hearty bread. It was fresh, filling, and the perfect light meal.

My boyfriend is a big fan of the chicken flatbread, and if you're looking for something more savory, it's definitely worth trying.

One thing I really like about Smoothie King is all the different add-ins. Whether you're trying to get more protein after a workout, add vitamins, or just make your smoothie a little more nutritious, there are plenty of options to customize it.

This is one of those places that really works for everyone. It's great for families, kids looking for a fun treat, anyone trying to eat a little healthier, or those gym days when you want something quick without grabbing fast food.
