Here’s a curb appeal trick that works surprisingly well: take a photo of your house from across the street.

Looking at the photo 📸 instead of the house itself makes visual clutter much easier to notice.

A few things to look for:
✓ Can you clearly see the house numbers?
✓ Is anything blocking the front door or walkway?
✓ Do hoses, bins or tools draw your eye?
✓ Are there dead plants or empty planters?
✓ Does the entry still look welcoming after dark?

It’s basically the 10-second buyer test... and it can reveal things you stopped noticing a long time ago.

Most home maintenance lists cover the obvious stuff. Here are a few checks that are easy to forget:

✓ Put a dry paper towel under sink and toilet supply lines, then check it later for slow leaks
✓ Make sure everyone in the house knows where the main water shutoff is
✓ Check the outside dryer vent and make sure the flap opens freely
✓ Test GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, garages and outdoor areas
✓ Take a quick look at your breaker-panel labels and update any mystery circuits

None of these takes long, but they can help you catch a small problem before it becomes an expensive one.
