📚 Distracted by Bob Goff—It’s a game-changer, and I'm about 75% through it. One chapter that stands out talks about the idea of an "all-access pass" in life. We’ve all got one. The only spot that’s off-limits? Center stage—that belongs to Jesus.
In this era, everything is at our fingertips. We can achieve whatever we set our minds to. Yet, like many, I’ve been caught up in the constant distractions—scrolling through social media, endless TV, the lure of the phone. But here's the thing: I've started to turn it around.
This summer, I made a small change—replaced mindless noise with thought-provoking audiobooks. I’ve been listening to a new book weekly, and it’s been like a mental reset button. My playlist got an overhaul, too—Christian artists like Forrest Frank, Elevation Worship, and Maverick City Music are in heavy rotation. But don’t get me wrong, I still crank up the classics: Journey, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin—they’ll always have a place.
Another shift? I tuned out the political noise on social media—unfollowed about 95% of the stuff that once filled my feed. The difference in my mood was night and day. It was like a fog lifted.
When I cut out the distractions, I realized something profound: access to what really matters is right in front of us—no, not just financially. It goes deeper. It’s about a clearer mind, a lighter heart, and a sharper focus on what truly makes life meaningful.
I recommend Distracted and Bob Goff’s other book, Dream Big. His perspective is unapologetically Christian, but even if that’s not your thing, there’s gold in there.
Take a beat. Unplug. Focus on what genuinely lights you up. Whether it's a walk, a book, or yes, even posting on Facebook every five minutes—chase what makes you, you. 🌟
