Here are four home maintenance tips that will help get you ready to enjoy summer:
π¦ Keep mosquitoes at bay: Check your yard for standing water regularly. In areas where water collects and cannot be drained, such as bird baths and rain barrels, use mosquito dunks or something to move the water like a water wiggler or fountain. Avoid pesticides, as they are not effective long-term and they have been shown to kill beneficial insects and pollinators, despite claims to the contrary.
π¨ Get ceiling fans ready for summer: Clear blades of dust and make sure theyβre set to spin counterclockwise to keep your spaces cool.
π Inspect outdoor play equipment: Tighten screws, bolts and other hardware according to manufacturer recommendations. Look to see if anything needs to be repaired or replaced.
π©Ή Refresh and restock your first aid kit: Check that items are not expired and replenish any items that are out or running low.
