Post #15 The Realtor’s Moving Chronicles: Did We Make the 15th? 😅
Not quite… but we did make serious progress.
First win, the chickens are officially relocated to our friends’ place. If you’ve never tried moving chickens, just know it’s an adventure all on its own. 🐓 That same afternoon I tackled two oddly satisfying tasks, deep-cleaning the stove (incoming secret) and lifting dents out of the carpet (another magic trick unlocked).
Let’s pause for Moving Secrets 101, because this stuff is gold:
• Hard water stains – If you followed me on my first round of Moving Chronicles, you already know this, for new followers, this is the best! Do you have hard water? on tubs and faucets, the stubborn white thick crust and the yellow residue drips?
Toilet bowl cleaner dissolves them in seconds. Wipe and done. BUT be careful, it will strip finishes on some faucets if you’re not paying attention.
• NEW Secret! Carpet dents from furniture?
Steam. That’s it. Steam lifts them right out. Tyler wanted to hire a company, and I thought, what do they do? They steam, so I pulled out my personal steamer, and boom, dents gone in minutes.
• Stove cleaning miracle, courtesy of my daughter-soon-to-be-in-law (that title deserves an award).
The Pink Stuff. The spray works well, but the paste? Absolute magic. Spread it, wipe it off, and suddenly your stove looks like it belongs in a showroom. I may have stared at it in disbelief for a moment.
Now for reality.
Fun stuff? None. We’re drowning in boxes. Furniture is still floating between “temporary” and “where does this even go?” Arguments ensue, but we are finally coming to terms, my terms… ok I do budge a bit… a lot!! We added all the Christmas tubs into the mix, so yes, the tree is up… but walking through the house feels like an obstacle course. 🎄📦
I was really hoping not to go back to the old house until Saturday to save gas, energy, and my sanity… but we might need one more trip. Still left, plants, final deep cleaning, and the WV Bug.
When you only have about two hours a day to make progress, even “small stuff” feels huge. So Saturday is the plan. All four of us, 3 cars for the final loads (cleaning stuff and odd items). Full day. Final push.
Will this be the day?
Stay tuned… 😬💪
