Blue skies, towering trees, fluffy Texas clouds, and a built-in stress reliever every time you head home.

I may be biased, but I think this is one of the prettiest stretches of road in Bastrop County.

Some places make it really easy to turn a quick stop into an entire afternoon.

You pop in for lunch and a Diet Dr Pepper, then somehow find yourself browsing clothing, gifts, home dĂ©cor, plants, and things you absolutely did not know you needed five minutes earlier. 😅

That’s exactly what happens to me at Darlin’s Diner and Sala de Soul in downtown Flatonia.

It’s one of my favorite combinations: good food, small-town charm, and shopping that’s actually fun. If you’ve never visited, put it on your list the next time you’re passing through.

Blackberry season is one of my favorite signs that summer has arrived in Central Texas.

I recently stopped by Omi’s Blackberry Farm in Paige, and it was easy to see why families make this an annual tradition. Fresh air, rows of blackberry bushes, and plenty of opportunities to come home with ingredients for cobbler, jam, or a snack that mysteriously disappears before you reach the kitchen. 😏

Before you make the trip, be sure to check Omi’s Blackberry Farm’s page for picking updates and hours. Availability can change quickly depending on weather and how many berries are ready.

If you’ve lived in Bastrop for years or you’re just visiting for the weekend, the Bastrop Visitors Center & Museum is honestly such a fun stop. đŸ€©

I learned that the “Baron” de Bastrop wasn’t actually a baron at all (very committed to the bit apparently 😂), and somehow that fake title still helped shape early Texas settlement history in a HUGE way.

Also
 settlers were receiving around 4,000 acres of land. As a Realtor, I genuinely cannot process that. 😅

The museum also covers Bastrop’s timber history, Camp Swift, and the Bastrop Complex Fires, which is such an important and emotional part of this area’s story.

I love things like this because they make you see a town differently afterward. Bastrop has SO much history packed into it. 🏡

If you’re exploring downtown Bastrop, definitely add this to your list.
