One full year as a home owner…. Let’s talk about what I’ve learned.
1. By far the most remarkable thing owning a home has taught me is a sense of independence and responsibility. I bought this, I saved for it, I work my ass off to pay for it. Nobody’s coming to save you if something goes wrong but… you got this on your own.
2. Holy crap it’s cheaper than rent… like $500-700 a month cheaper than rent.
3. Home ownership is addicting (at least it is for me) and all I want is more properties. Property #2 coming soon.
4. Popcorn ceilings suck to scrape! They get dust everywhere. Air conditioning filters need to be replaced often and breaker panels aren’t as scary as they seem. And you get a lot of junk mail…. ALOT.
5. Duval county has significantly more things to do than where I’m from in Clay and it’s closer to literally everything.
If I can do it…. So can you. I waited tables saving every dollar I made until I graduated and turned 18 and finally made the decision to build some equity (40k and growing every day).
Love this life I’m living.
