Prayers for the firefighters

Closures: Cold Springs Road and the Harmon Den Horse Camp are closed.

Cold Springs Fire
Appalachian Ranger District, Pisgah National Forest
Location: 15 miles north of Lake Junaluska, North Carolina
Date Reported: April 11, 2026 Estimated size: 7 acres

The USDA Forest Service is responding to the Cold Springs Fire, located near the Cold Springs Road in the Harmon Den area just west of Interstate 40. A response of several aircraft is overhead and assisting with water and suppressant drops. Fire crews are also on the scene for fire suppression efforts.

For public and firefighter safety please avoid this area to allow aircraft and crews to work to suppress the fire. This includes not flying any unmanned aerial systems (UAS) or drones in this area. If you fly, we can’t!

Smoke may be visible from the Interstate 40 corridor and surrounding areas.
