A Time of Transitions: Our Team’s, and Perhaps Yours

Larry and Jan Blunt have been a team of sorts since the mid-1990s when they met and worked together at WYFF-TV4 in Greenville, SC—Larry as a News Anchor/Reporter and Jan as the Marketing and Promotions Director. Their career paths diverged in 1998 when they married and moved to Colorado, where Larry remained in TV news and Jan served as a local government communications director before moving back to the Carolinas in 2005. For the next twelve years Larry was welcomed into thousands of homes across western North Carolina each evening as a main news anchor on WLOS-TV13. An 8-time Emmy Award winner, Larry also had the opportunity to visit communities across the region while writing and producing his weekly “Person of the Week” segment, celebrating the accomplishments of people from all walks of life. It wasn’t until they became Realtors® in 2017 that Larry and Jan reunited in the workplace as “The Larry Blunt Team,” a fresh and satisfying career shift that allows the duo to re-purpose their professional skill sets while working in the best interest of their clients. In July 2019, the Team incorporated as Larry Blunt & Associates LLC, and in August joined Beverly-Hanks at Biltmore Park, to better serve their clients through increased access to marketing and research resources and dedicated support services.

Jan’s tenure as Communications Director for Buncombe County Schools from 2008 to 2014 has been particularly helpful when working with families relocating in the area. Plus, her local government experience and Master of Public Affairs degree earned in 2015 from Western Carolina University have come in handy when questions arise related to zoning, building codes, and government policies, practices, and procedures.

Together, their combined professional experiences give Larry and Jan a unique insight and intimate knowledge of western NC and the wonderful people who live here, which they now put to good use as Realtors® with Beverly-Hanks. They enjoy serving as their clients’ trusted advisors, using their marketing and communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and neighborhood knowledge to exceed expectations and minimize stress throughout the home buying and selling process.

Over the years Larry and Jan have undergone many life changes and transitions, raising four children while moving between and within multiple states. As a result they are highly intuitive regarding the needs of their clients who are going through their own transitions, and dedicate themselves to making each one as smooth as possible. Larry hails from Muskogee, OK and is a recognized member of the Cherokee Nation. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and has a BA from Purdue University at Ft. Wayne. He has won eight EMMYs and countless other awards, including a Silver Circle Lifetime Achievement Award from the television industry in 2015. In his spare time Larry enjoys pickleball at the Y and taking the couple's Cairn Terrier Toby on long walks. He and Jan both enjoy traveling, within the country to visit their adult children and four grandchildren, and internationally whenever possible.
