Looking for a real estate agent? The truth is that most people already know a real estate agent. In fact, most people already know several real estate agents. Crazy, right?

Do you ever think, "that looks easy, I bet I could save a few bucks and do it myself"? Sometimes that strategy works out really well... other times, not so much. Giving yourself a haircut? If you're doing a simple trim, you could probably pull that off. But if you're changing your hairstyle entirely... that takes guts! (At least, in my opinion)

Now, there are some things that are just inherently not worth the risk of trying on your own.

Surgery, replacing your transmission, electrical work... etc. Personally, I'd hire professionals for any of these - and maybe you relate.

Believe me, I'm all for overcoming challenges and taking risks to do what needs to be done. Putting in the work and doing research to solve problems is super admirable.

But when time is limited, and you can't handle everything... it's best to focus on what YOU are great at and let others come in and help you out.

This is also true for handling the sale of your home.

A venti iced coffee at Starbucks costs $4.50. Meanwhile, the median price of a home in the United States is around four hundred thousand dollars right now. That means if you skipped one coffee per day, you could save up enough cash to buy your dream house in....just over two hundred and forty-three years.

This is why I think it's pretty dumb advice to tell people to skip out on simple luxuries to save for a house. The math just doesn't add up.

It's better to focus on the BIG things in your budget (car payment, always paying your credit card, student loans) than to worry too much about buying a coffee.

Sometimes the little things in life are what keep us sane, so we can have the discipline to make responsible decisions on the big things!
