🌸❄️ Shoals Area “Little Winters” ❄️🌸

If you’ve lived in North Alabama very long, you know spring doesn’t just arrive and stay warm. It likes to tease us a little first! 😄

Old-timers in the Shoals have long talked about the “Little Winters”—those short cold snaps that pop up just when we think winter is finally gone. They often line up with certain plants blooming, which is how they got their names.

Here’s the traditional lineup you might hear folks mention:

🌺 Redbud Winter – Late March to Early April
🌼 Dogwood Winter – Mid April
🌿 Locust Winter – Late April
🍓 Blackberry Winter – Early to Mid May
👖 Cotton Britches Winter – Late April to Early May

These sayings go way back to farming days when people watched trees and flowers as much as the calendar to know what the weather might do next.

So if we get a chilly snap after a warm week, don’t worry… it might just be one of our famous “Little Winters.” 😉

**I HAD A NEW "FIRST" TODAY**

I was showing a house and a Sheriff showed up 5 minutes into the showing..........to serve a subpoena to the sellers of the house 🤦🏼‍♀️ I've accidentally set off alarms in the past so it's not the 1st time I've had to greet a police officer. But it was my 1st time interfering with someone being legally served 🚨
