For years, Ernest Barber has been an anchor and joyful part of Seven Points. Daniel and the Ernest crew created a space that was far more than haircuts. It became a gathering place for friendship, creativity, music, and a whole lot of people who found belonging inside these walls. The stories that have come out of this space are truly inspiring.

Just recently, when we found out that Daniel had made the hard call to move the shop… it opened the door for a new chapter for the building… one that we at Fernhill wanted to protect.

Daniel Elias Crisler and Matt Golley have been dear friends since Matt started calling the Shoals home, and Matt has been in Daniel’s chair for years. In fact, these photos are from Matt’s last cut in the space at Wood Ave… a great day for friends getting to celebrate the businesses that they are both building.

As ERNEST BARBER continues its next chapter at Tuscaloosa St. and Fernhill Realty | Alabama Real Estate | The Shoals prepares to make Wood Ave our newest Shoals office, it feels important to us that we celebrate the space together. Pieces of Ernest will remain, including original photos and a painted scottie dog next to the front door. Before Fernhill officially settles in, we are stacking hands with Daniel, and some of our dear friends to bring music back to this room one more time.

But the truth is, I was going back through an old Fernhill Realty | Alabama Real Estate | The Shoals headshot shoot that Abraham Rowe Photography did for a few of our new agents… and I just liked these shots.

Abraham is a great photographer and an amazing artist. I am so proud to get to call him friend and 7 Points neighbor. Being a part of the 7pointsartistgroup community is such an honor.

This Saturday, there’s a Hootenanny in Seven Points.

Fernhill Realty | Alabama Real Estate | The Shoals and Matt Golley - Owner/Broker Fernhill Realty are incredibly proud to help sponsor this year’s Hootenanny, created by our friends at Southern Native.

If you know Guy and the Southern Native crew, you know this is about much more than throwing a great party. They have poured themselves into celebrating Southern culture, supporting artists and musicians, and creating something that brings people together right here in the neighborhood they call home.

Guy is a dear friend, and we are so dang proud of what he and his team continue to build.

This is exactly the kind of thing the Fernhill team loves to support. Great communities don’t just happen. They’re built by people who show up, create things, open doors, play music, make art, feed one another, and give us reasons to gather.

Well, this was not exactly the plan...

A few weeks ago, we celebrated with these wonderful friends as they purchased their downtown dream home, a beautiful historic property they were excited to make their own.

Then life did what life sometimes does.

An unexpected buyer came along with an offer to purchase the property from them. An offer they couldn’t refuse… which meant our happy new homeowners suddenly needed another home.

So, back on the hunt we went.

Thankfully, a few phone calls and some wonderful relationships around town led us to an off-market historic home that checked the boxes. If all goes according to plan, we’ll be sitting around another closing table together next week.

In the meantime, our office decided this adventure deserved some recognition, so we presented them with the inaugural trophy for the “Fastest Unexpected Flip.”

Real estate rarely follows a perfectly straight line. Sometimes our job is simply to care for our people, know our community, and be ready to get creative when the story takes an unexpected turn.

Grateful for clients who trust us enough to go on the adventure with them.

Our Fernhill Realty | Alabama Real Estate | The Shoals intern heads back to Starkville today, and our entire office, especially the Matt Golley - Owner/Broker Fernhill Realty, is going to miss Amerie Redenius.

Amerie Redenius brought so much to our summer. We will miss her hard work, creative problem-solving, her willingness to jump into just about anything, and, most importantly, her genuine kindness.

One of the joys of building Fernhill has been getting to play a small part in the professional development of talented young people from the communities surrounding our offices.

We are so dang proud of Amerie and grateful she chose to spend this season with us. Now, back to Starkville she goes, with a whole office full of people cheering her on through the rest of college and whatever wonderful adventure comes next.
