Thanks to all of the men and women that have served in the military for this country. A special thank you to the families of those that have either been injured or died serving the country. I remember my friend Lemoyndue Jarret that was killed in Vietnam. We were all so young !

I am so proud of Troy.

Just left the Renaissance Hotel where the NCNW held their annual Legacy Awards Luncheon where prominent leaders of the community are celebrated. I was there to support Troy Curtis along with his Mom Chiquita Johnson for his award as the Grand Chaplain of the Masonic Eastern district for all of the many things that he has achieved and been involved in. This was truly a great occasion.

Once again the Angel of death has made his presence known. In a little city of Lewiston, Maine a killer went into a bowling alley and started firing at bowlers. One young guy slid down the alley and hid behind the pins. There seems to be no location that is exempt from this violence. I pray for all of those that have been traumatized by this savagery. I find it difficult to believe that a country that has mastered the great task of sending a man to the moon and return him safely has not been able to provide a safe environment free from the misuse of fi****ms. The only question is when and where will this violence visit our little space.

TODAY WE REMEMBER

This country has declared today to be a day that we pay respect for those that have served in the military and given their life in the sacrifice for this country. I remember those throughout history that have paid the ultimate price including my old friend Lemoyndue Jarret who died in Vietnam. To all that have served I thank you. I also thank my parents Willie and Maggie Patterson for their love and enduring care for my brother and sisters. This has made me recognize that every family has parents and others to remember on this day. I maintain that all that have tried to instill a sense of values in their families are to be remembered. I thought about living my life in such a way that it would not bring embarrassment to my family. I am sure that those sense of values exist with other families also. We can all remember those in our families that have shown love and given a sense of direction to make us be more decent people. I go to the cemetery today just as I have every year on this day to say I remember and I am thankful. To God Be The Glory For The Things That He Has Done.
