Here’s the quick breakdown:

🏡 PRIMARY RESIDENCE
The home you live in most of the time. This is typically where you make your primary residence and can often have the most favorable financing options.

🏖️ SECOND HOME
A property you personally use for part of the year—think vacation home or a getaway. It isn’t your primary residence and generally has specific occupancy and financing requirements.

💰 INVESTMENT PROPERTY
A property purchased primarily to generate income, such as through long-term rentals. You don’t live there as your primary residence.

The answer is YES—depending on the property, loan program, and lender guidelines!

One strategy buyers should know about is purchasing a duplex or multi-family property and renting out the additional unit(s).
