𝐉𝐚𝐧. 𝟐𝟔, 𝟒:𝟒𝟓 𝐩.𝐦. 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun… we love to see ya! Even though today’s sunshine is helping our Public Works crews clear the main roadways faster, there are still so many streets throughout town covered in packed ice. Plus, by now you know the drill, tonight’s cold temps will refreeze any liquid on the roads, and conditions will be treacherous again tonight and tomorrow morning. Because of this, here’s the latest:
𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬
▪️ All Town facilities will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 27. This includes Town Hall, Community Activity Center, Flower Mound Public Library, Senior Center, Animal Adoption Center, and Municipal Court.
▪️ Of course, all of our fire stations and our police station are always staffed and open to the public if you need assistance or a place to warm up.
▪️ Republic Services will not operate on Tuesday, Jan. 27. Additionally, recycling is suspended for the week. Here’s the new plan: Monday and Tuesday’s trash routes will be collected Wednesday; Wednesday’s trash routes will be collected Thursday; Thursday’s trash routes will be collected Friday; and Friday’s trash routes will be collected Saturday. Recycling collection will resume next week.
The good news is: we should finally get above freezing tomorrow around noon! 👏 This will help accelerate melting. Our Public Works crews are staying busy on their end plowing the roads and sanding intersections, primary roadways, and problem areas. By the end of today, they expect to have used 450 cubic yards of sand and meltdown mix! That’s about 40 dump truck loads.
We sound like a broken record, but please stay home today and tomorrow if you can. We’ve seen an uptick in traffic, and with it, an uptick in emergency response calls. If you have to go out (like HAVE to), take it slow, leave lots of space, and give yourself plenty of time to brake. Stay warm, stay safe, and we’ll chat again in the morning!
