A lot of people rule themselves out of buying a home before they ever look at the real numbers.

So here’s a real example:

🏡 $250,000 purchase
3.5% down (FHA)
5.99% interest rate

Total monthly payment (including principal, interest, taxes, insurance & PMI):

👉 $1,818/month

Now the next question most people ask is…

“What kind of income would we need for that?”

Using standard lending guidelines:

A household income of roughly $70,000–$80,000 per year could potentially qualify for this payment — depending on other monthly debts like vehicles, student loans, or credit cards.

That’s not to say it’s right for everyone.
And it’s not to say everyone will qualify.
