Here’s another reason to sneak away to Folly before summer slips away. 🌊

A big shout-out to Surfrider Foundation and Charleston Bird Club for bringing Bird & Brews to the Folly Beach Lighthouse on Sunday, August 30!

Start the morning with coffee and conversation from Camino Caffeino at 7:30 AM, then at 8:30 AM head toward the Folly Beach Lighthouse for the bird walk.

🐢🌊 It’s a very special time of year on Folly Beach!

Peak sea turtle hatchling season is underway, and we wanted to share this wonderful post from our friends at the Folly Beach Turtle Watch.

For our StarView Cottage guests, seeing those tiny tracks in the sand — or being lucky enough to witness some of the activity surrounding a nest — can be one of those unforgettable Folly Beach moments.

The story below about the new HERO Team is especially heartwarming. The dedication of these volunteers and the lengths they go to give even the weakest little hatchlings a chance is pretty remarkable.

Another beautiful reminder that when you stay at StarView Cottage, the beach just steps away is much more than a place to put your toes in the sand. It’s home to some pretty extraordinary little neighbors. 🐢💙

🥖 One of James Island’s most popular lunch spots has crossed the bridge.

Yous Guys Sandwich Shop is now open at Hotel Folly, adjacent to the Folly Beach boat landing.

Known for their authentic Philly-style hoagies and sandwiches, Yous Guys has built quite a following on James Island. Now Folly locals and visitors can enjoy them without leaving the island.

As a Pittsburgh girl, I’m always partial to a good hoagie, and the Italian is my personal favorite. 🇮🇹

🌸 Staying at StarView Cottages this weekend?

If you’re looking for a break from the beach, one of Charleston’s most enjoyable monthly events returns Sunday. King Street closes to vehicle traffic and becomes a pedestrian-friendly destination where you can browse boutiques, enjoy local restaurants, people-watch, and take in the charm of historic downtown Charleston.

It’s an easy day trip from Folly Beach and a wonderful way to experience another side of the Lowcountry before heading back to the island for sunset.

⛵️ A Tall Ship is Sailing into Charleston! 🇺🇸

If you’re visiting Folly Beach next week, here’s a fun addition to your itinerary!

The legendary U.S. Coast Guard Barque EAGLE, America’s Tall Ship, will be docked in downtown Charleston June 11–14. Standing nearly 300 feet long with towering masts and miles of rigging, she’s a stunning sight and a photographer’s dream.

Best of all? Public tours are free.

After a morning on the beach, head downtown and step aboard one of the most impressive sailing vessels you’ll ever see. Then grab dinner along the waterfront and make a day of it.
