Rutherford County will celebrate Independence Day on America’s 250th birthday at the beautiful campus of Isothermal Community College. 🎉🇺🇸🧨
Celebrate America's 250th Anniversary in Rutherfordton and Across Rutherford County! 🇺🇸
The Town of Rutherfordton is proud to be part of a historic countywide celebration as communities across Rutherford County come together to commemorate America's 250th Anniversary on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
The day begins in Rutherfordton at 10:00 AM with the unveiling of the Overmountain Men Memorial Statue, honoring the patriot militia whose victory at Kings Mountain helped change the course of the American Revolution.
Then, continue the celebration throughout the day and evening as Rutherford County gathers for the America 250 Fireworks Spectacular at Lake Imogene on the campus of Isothermal Community College.
🎆 Fireworks begin at approximately 9:30 PM
This once-in-a-generation celebration is the result of a remarkable partnership between Rutherford County, local municipalities, Isothermal Community College, tourism partners, community organizations, and private sponsors working together to honor our nation's history and our shared future.
Join us as we celebrate 250 years of freedom, sacrifice, service, and community.
