My customer purchased this house in the spring of 2025. They met with myself and two other builders, and all three of us told them the same thing. Between the mold, general rot, and Carpenter ant infestation they would be better off tearing it down.  Fast-forward approximately one year… we tear the house down the second week in May….begin excavation for the new house only to find unstable soil, not suitable to put a house on. (PS… the existing house showed zero sign of any structural defects) fast-forward to today….14 weeks later… We are prepping to pour 6 inch thick structural floors in both the house and garage…. The entire foundation had to be engineered and there are 61 helical piles that will hold up the house… the piles range in depth from 12 to over 30 feet… i’m pretty certain there is more rebar in this foundation than most bridge decks or parking ramps… by the end of next week, we will be back to where we should’ve been the second week in June… My customers have been beyond amazing…and patient.. and i am very thankful for their trust in me. They have affectionately named their new summer home..THE MONEY PIT.
