Insider tip for buyers: your inspection report is probably going to look scary.
During due diligence, it’s completely normal for the inspection to come back long — sometimes really long.
But that doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong with the house.
A good inspection is supposed to be thorough. It’s going to point out the big things, the little things, the future maintenance items, and everything in between.
The key is knowing what actually matters.
Pay close attention to the big-ticket items:
roof, HVAC, structural concerns, water issues, electrical problems, and safety concerns.
Those are the things that can affect your budget, your negotiations, and your peace of mind.
But the small stuff? A loose doorknob, a minor repair, a little maintenance item — that’s often just part of owning a home.
So if you’re buying, don’t panic when the report comes back.
Get emotionally buckled up, sort through what matters, and lean on your agent to help you separate the major concerns from the normal homeowner stuff.
