The cobbler’s children have no shoes… and this interior designer doesn’t live in her dream home. But that doesn’t mean I can’t create pockets of visual joy within a house in the community we picked for our kids to grow up in.
In my own home, function and form is a balance that plays out over time as our family’s needs are constantly changing. With 3 busy kids, 3 pets, and another dozen plus kids in the culdesac coming and going…. Things get really busy around here, managing both the people and all the stuff. Smart storage has proven absolutely necessary!
I play at the potter’s wheel as a hobby, so I often decorate with ceramics. And I’ve gotten better at caring for plants over the years, so my home is now full of plants! It’s also a really economical way to decorate, if you buy small plants and are able to nurture them to full-size.
