In recognition of International Women's Day, I'd like to draw your attention to Robin Ophelia Quivers. She is the brave and talented co-host of the Howard Stern Show since 1981 and was instrumental in helping Stern create the most successful and highly rated radio program of all time.
Robin grew up in Maryland in a working class family where, unfortunately, she would become the victim of a sexual assault by the hands of her father. At age 17, she enrolled in a pre-nursing program at Maryland General Hospital. In 1974, Quivers graduated from the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Quivers joined the United States Air Force in July 1975, where she was commissioned as a second lieutenant. She entered active duty at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas on January 11, 1976. After six months of service, Quivers was promoted to first lieutenant. By June 1978, she had acquired the rank of captain.
From there she began a career in radio as a news lady. In 1981, an up and coming Howard Stern requested an on air co-host who could read the news and riff on topics. The pair were an instant match and so began the most powerful radio duo the world would ever see.
Howard and Robin have worked together ever since those days in D.C. Their on air chemistry is unlike any other. Howard is the wild and outlandish type and Robin has always been there to reel him in. The pair have always maintained a great working relationship amid the years of controversy and fines their show would incur.
They now continue their radio show on Sirius XM. Stern has remarked many times that there would be no Howard stern without his queen, Robin Ophelia. She exemplifies everything righteous and true to the American Dream. She is the last word in hardwork and perseverance and for that reason, she is the greatest. Thank you Robin Ophelia Quivers.
