☀️ Stay Safe During the Heat ☀️
With temperatures climbing into the 90s this week, it's important to take extra precautions. Older adults and individuals with disabilities are at a higher risk for heat-related illnesses, so knowing the warning signs can make all the difference.
🌡️ Signs of Heat Exhaustion
• Heavy sweating
• Weakness or fatigue
• Dizziness or fainting
• Headache
• Nausea or vomiting
• Cool, pale, or clammy skin
If you notice these symptoms, move to a cool place, drink water if you're able, loosen tight clothing, and rest.
🚨 Signs of Heat Stroke (Call 911 Immediately)
• Body temperature above 103°F
• Hot, red, dry, or damp skin
• Confusion or slurred speech
• Loss of consciousness
• Rapid, strong pulse
• Seizures
Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Call 911 right away and move the person to a cooler area while waiting for help.
💙 Tips to Stay Cool
✅ Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
✅ Stay indoors during the hottest hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
✅ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
✅ Use fans or air conditioning whenever possible.
✅ Check in on neighbors, friends, and loved ones, especially those who live alone.
