Housing Affordability—What’s Happening in Our Local Market?
We've all heard about rising home prices, but what does that really mean for people living and working here in Aroostook County?
For years, one of the advantages of living in northern Maine has been affordable housing. But as home prices, interest rates, insurance, taxes, and maintenance costs have increased, buying a home has become more challenging for many people.
And it's not just first-time buyers. Higher housing costs affect younger people trying to put down roots, older homeowners hoping to downsize, and local workers who want to live in the communities where they work.
