If you own or are looking at a property with less than 1.0 acre in Meade County you will not be able to replace your septic when it fails.
It is possible to buy a house here and three months later find out the septic tank needs replaced with no way to obtain the permit. You still have 30yrs worth of loan payments on the house and no septic system.
The EPA made a lot of properties in Meade County useless in the 1990s with a minimum lot size requirement of 1.0 acre to pull a new septic permit. This is how local governments phase out properties that have no way to build equity because of the lot size.A lot of these useless properties have sold recently or are selling now. So the buyer comes to the closing table with a pre-approved loan and the seller shows up with a title that has not been marketable in 30 years.
The lot size figures on the PVA website are wrong in many cases. You can use an app called Onxhunt GPS for free to check the size of the land to see if you want to pay for a real survey.
