Being able to walk into a room, recognize exactly what's happening and how to diffuse the situation is the difference between a realtor who gets repeat referrals from probate attorneys and one who says they'll never do these again.

I cut some parts of this but tried to retain the core message of this creator's talk for time but I tried to retain all of her core message.

This is a super common perspective... until you go through it.

Throughout history, collecting belongings at the pace we do now was never part of "an inheritance" and now, families end up spending 200+ hours, $20-50k and dealing with an average of 8 vendors to get a property cleaned out and prepped for the market.

EVERY real estate agent should watch Every Year After.

There’s two types of agents who will see this:

The ones who see Charlie and Sam and RUN.

Then there’s the ones who walk into an inherited property and feel *everything* that the family can’t say out loud.

You intuitively know that Charlie’s temper isn’t about the house. He’s the older brother who feels the pressure to get this right.

Sam wasn’t stalling on the repairs — he’s just not ready for selling to mean his mom is really gone. He really was doing the best he could while taking care of his mom.

Reading the room is what you do best.

And then you go home EXHAUSTED because no one ever taught you how to channel that gift into a practice that protects you AND the families who need you most.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been carrying this like a burden when it was always supposed to be our superpower.

This isn’t about hustling harder.

You already know how to take listings, get referrals and connect with people in a meaningful way.

If families like Sam and Charlie don’t know that agents like us exist, they’ll end up giving away their family’s legacy just to get out of survival mode.

We need to find them and protect their legacies at the moment they need us most.

But cold calling grieving families really just isn’t aligned for agents like us.

I found a better way that uses the skills we already do well (building relationships and getting referrals) to get in front of probate attorneys who can get you in front of families like this.
