senior attorney Valeria Angelucci recently moderated a CLE presentation during the Corporations, Securities and Financial Services Committee Meeting at The Florida Bar Business Law Section Labor Day Retreat.

The program focused on helping business attorneys better understand how valuation professionals approach causation, damages theories, standards of value, fair value versus fair market value, appraisal rights, valuation discounts, and the interaction between legal frameworks and valuation analysis.

Joined by fellow presenter C. Brett Cooper of Vallit, Valeria provided legal and transactional perspectives, and discussed how carefully drafted business agreements can influence future valuation outcomes.

During a recent trip to Rome, shareholder Gabriel Monzon Cortarelli attended a meeting of the World Jurist Association/World Law Foundation Board of Trustees, as well as a private meeting with Italian President Sergio Mattarella.

President Mattarella will receive the World Peace & Liberty Award May of 2027 in Tirana, Albania. Often described as the Nobel award in Law, the World Jurist Association’s highest honor recognizes global leaders whose work strengthens democracy and international peace through law. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor received the award in 2025.

Gabriel’s service, as trustee of the World Law Foundation, in support of international law reflects Becker’s continued commitment to advancing the rule of law and strengthening relationships within the global legal community.

shareholder Robert Brighton recently presented a CLE program on the regulations, risks, and rewards of digital assets at The Florida Bar Business Law Section’s Labor Day Retreat.

Rob chaired the Florida Bar Business Law Section task force that helped shape Florida’s Payment Stablecoin Act, landmark legislation establishing Florida as a pioneer in digital asset regulation by its adoption of the first state-regulated comprehensive regulatory framework for payment stablecoins under the GENIUS Act. Congratulations to Rob on helping advance this important area of law and sharing his insight with fellow members of the Business Law Section!
