Please I am asking persons to kindly help if possible. Recently a 74-year-old friend reached out to me needing help as she hasn’t eaten in the last 3 days which was very alarming since she is diabetic. After talking with her she told me that she was living in a car with her grandson. I provided her with food and temporary shelter but they need a bit more assistance with shelter, food and transportation. If you can help please send me a message or Zelle to my account [email protected]. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated no matter the amount. Thanks in adavance.
I want to share her story publicly, with the goal of seeking help for her and her grandson, so they will be able to sustain themselves. With a roof over their heads, and possibly an online job for the grandson, they will be able to manage somehow.
I am 74 years old and would like to share how my life fell into a deep hole, and why I am seeking your help.
It all started on November 10th, 2022. I woke up in the morning prepared to go see my primary care doctor with my Grandson who was 21 years old, who was also my caregiver. My stomach started hurting and cramping, to the point where I kept going back and forth to the bathroom. My Grandson and I thought it was just gas or something I ate. 30 minutes later my Grandson found me half unconscious in the bathroom, faced down on the ground. He was in a panic and rushed to call 911 to get medical assistance. Paramedics arrived and they found me in a puddle of stool mixed with blood. When I arrived at the hospital, my grandson received a phone call from the ICU nurse saying that I had a tear in my stomach, was bleeding internally, and that I could die from this illness. I don’t know how my grandson managed this bad news because we are so close.
We were in Alabama at the time, a State where we knew no one else. My grandson called both of my daughters for help but they never showed up. I was in a COMA in the ICU for two weeks and my grandson was all alone in this situation trying to figure out how to keep me alive. He had to quit his job and put a stop on his life to try and save my life. From November 10th, 2022 to March 20th, 2023, I’ve been back and forth to the hospital because the doctor found several things wrong with me: ULCER, UTI, DEHYDRATION, BLEEDING INTERNALLY DUE TO TEAR IN STOMACH, HYPERTENSION…… My grandson stayed with me through it all with no help.
With God’s help, I got back on my feet and one of my daughters living in Greensboro, North Carolina, reached out to me and told me that she can help out. My grandson and I, desperately needing the help, agreed we were going to accept the assistance because the people we were staying with felt like it was a little bit too much for them. I needed the help with my health, shelter and food and also that my grandson could get a stable Job. My daughter is my next of kin and my grandson does not have Power of Attorney over me.
To access the help, we drove to North Carolina thinking that we were going to get help. However, instead of getting help we were used and abused. Within the first week my daughter started to verbally abuse me. I had no choice but to become a vessel of all the words my daughter was pouring into me, because I had no where to lay my head, and I was crippled. I could not escape to at least take a breather because my daughter was on the third floor of the building. My grandson wanted to defend me, but we both had the same thought that if we say anything we would both be sleeping on the streets.
It got worse when my daughter was in the process of moving. My grandson woke up early before anyone else and decided that he was going to help her move. He knew his mother gets frustrated when things do not get done, which is normal, so my grandson moved everything ONE by ONE by himself, from 3rd floor to 1st floor. When everything was finally done it was time for me to get assistance to come down from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor. As I was trying to get assistance to come down from the 3rd floor my daughter asked, “Where are you going?”. My grandson and I, which is her son, looked at each other confused. My daughter told us, the purpose of the move was to get an extra room for me and my grandson. But we soon realized we were used to help move her things to her new apartment.
My daughter left me stranded on the third floor with my grandson who was very drained from all the moving. We did not know what to do because I am crippled in a wheelchair, and I am not light. As a result, we were led to call the paramedics to help my grandson. It took 3-4 men to lift me down the stairs.
After all that, my grandson and I, thinking my daughter was just frustrated with the move, drove to her new apartment to see if we could just lay our heads in her new apartment for the night. But we were thoroughly rejected and so we had to sleep in the car for several nights. With no money, food, few drops of water we did not know what to do. We went back to my daughter’s around thanksgiving, because we had nothing and we were desperate. Again, we were turned away.
My grandson and I are seeking your help because we have no shelter. We have been going to sleep with no food most nights and I am diabetic. I am sleeping and living in the car. My Grandson cannot work because he has no place to leave me. He cannot even get a work from home job because we have no secured roof. PLEASE HELP!!
