The mixed-use development being developed by Portman Holdings will also house offices, retail and rooftop terraces.

Much needed construction on a new high school in the Steele Creek area is finally happening this spring.

Progress continues on the design activities for the new Olympic relief high school, which will be located on the property next to Palisades Park Elementary School. According to current plans, the new school will have 100 classrooms and an indoor pool. Construction is scheduled to begin the spring of 2020 and the school is to be occupied in August 2022. An incredible YMCA in the plans...a retirement community....large home community...up for rezoning in a much loved natural area off Sledge Rd/Steele Creek/Shopton Rd. West! A must read!

New YMCA Planned on Steele Creek Road South of Sledge Road

Pulte Group has submitted a rezoning petition for property along Sledge Road that includes a 13,000 square foot Family Branch YMCA with an outdoor pool. The site has 30 acres and includes room for future expansion and plenty of open space.

The new YMCA is part of a larger development planned along the south side of Sledge Road that includes up to 697 residential dwelling units and up to 120 units in a Continuing Care Retirement Community.

The YMCA has begun fundraising and must raise from $8.5 to $9 million for the facility. They have no timeline since construction is dependent on raising the funds.

Construction has begun on the Pennies for Progress SC 160 West project. Picture is of clearing from today.
This project will widen SC 160 to 5 lanes from Grant Farm Road to the North Carolina state line. The project will include a traffic signal at Zoar Road.
