In anticipation of the expected impacts from Tropical Storm Isaias, the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are encouraging all non‑residents, and residents living in low-lying, flood prone areas to voluntarily evacuate. Current forecasts call for Isaias to be a significant hurricane when it reaches the coast bringing hazardous conditions including high winds, storm surge, flooding, and disruptions to essential services that could significantly impact access to public safety and critical utility systems.
City officials urge all individuals who are not permanent residents to leave the area immediately and relocate to a safer location. Departing now will help reduce congestion, support emergency operations, and ensure the safety of those who may be most vulnerable during the storm.
“Our first responsibility is to safeguard lives and ensure that emergency services and utility crews can operate effectively as conditions worsen,” said Mayor Robert Craft. “We strongly urge all visitors to take this seriously and move to safer accommodations without delay.”
“We haven't had a voluntary evacuation in a long time, so we don't take it lightly,” Mayor Tony Kennon said. "Please help us by leaving the Islands so that we do what needs to be done.”
Each City will continue to monitor the storm’s track and intensity and will provide additional public updates as conditions evolve. Residents and visitors are asked to follow official City communication channels for the latest information and instructions.
