Sanibel Lighthouse survives Ian

Despite the destruction unleashed by the Category 4 storm, which toppled hundreds of buildings across Sanibel Island, the historic landmark remains standing.

The ducks have arrived. They have decided to once again try to use our pool as their swimming hole and "muddy our waters". In order to help keep the ducks away, Shana, one of our full time residents, recently purchased a fake owl that is now sitting poolside. So don't be alarmed if you see a realistic looking owl by the pool.

Owners - just a suggestion to check your front doormats for urine. Unfortunately today I discovered at some point over the past few weeks someone has been using my front doormat for their personal bathroom. I live on the 2nd floor of 9627 Eaton Gardens Ln.

There is progress being made with the ganoderma destroying our palm trees. The palms were marked with black plastic strips to identify the palms that need removed. There were healthy palms mark because they were to close to the builds. The palms would rub on the roof and void our warranty. Removing these palms eliminates an avenue for the ants to entire the condos. Care must be taken when the bad palms removed not to contaminate the good or healthy palms. Spraying bleach or alcohol on the tools will kill the ganoderma.

Please be aware that the landscapers will be applying W**d N Feed to the grasses this Saturday. Please keep your pets and young kids off the grass until the product is dried/absorbed. Thanks.

It is with deep regret that a number of our palm trees have ganaderma.
What is ganoderma?

Ganodera palm disease, also called ganoderma butt rot, is a white rot fungus that causes palm tree trunk diseases. It can kill palm trees. Ganoderma is caused by the pathogen Ganoderma zonatum, and any palm tree can come down with it

How is Ganoderma treated?
Fungicides have not been proven to have any effect on ganoderma. As a result, there is currently no known treatment or cure for the disease. What can we do to get rid of it? The palm should be removed as soon as possible once the conk(s) appear on the trunk.

How does Ganoderma spread?

It is easily spread by wind blown spores and dirty shovels containing contaminated soil. The fungal genus Ganoderma is a group of wood-decaying fungi that are found throughout the world on all types of wood, including conifers, hardwood and softwood trees and palms

Can more palms be planted after the ganoderma diseased palms are removed?

Because the fungus survives in the soil, do not plant another palm or palm-like plant in the same spot where a palm has died from Ganoderma butt rot.

Please be advised the since we had a number of expensive bicycles stolen the Board decided to install security camera on the property. Hopefully this will help.
