However, predating Wright Jenkins Home Design, was Dave’s popular Pre-Drawn home plan company, Energy Smart Home Plans. Homes built from this collection of ESHP plans, are among the most energy-efficient homes available in The United States of America. After nearly 20 years in the high-end residential design and illustration business, Dave was approached in early 2009 to design what would be the first production built, true Net-Zero Energy Home, constructed in Gainesville, FL. Working closely with acclaimed building scientist Ken Fonorow, the multiple 2010 Aurora Award winning home, ESHP plan #101 – Clearwater Model, became the inspiration for Dave's unique and cutting edge Pre-Drawn plan collection, Energy Smart Home Plans. In addition, the latest super-energy-efficient SWFL Habitat for Humanity homes can be seen on one WJHD draftsman’s monitor while a high-end custom design can be seen on another.
