KPSLB will be giving away 700 trees -- avocado 🥑 mango 🥭 and pigeon plum (Coccoloba) 🌿 -- at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at Clover Park, 31 Piazza Drive.

City staff place trees into residents' vehicles and distribute them on a first-come, first-served basis.

IDs are required to prove City residency; one tree per household. This is a drive-thru event; no walk-ups are allowed.

Calling all plant enthusiasts and green thumbs! You are cordially invited to the grand opening of the St. Lucie County Library System’s first Seed Library on Saturday, Sep 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Morningside Branch Library.

Created in collaboration with the UF IFAS Extension St. Lucie County, the Seed Library is designed to encourage gardening, promote plant diversity and connect our community through the joy of growing.

Through the Seed Library, community members can share, save and exchange seeds while learning about Florida-Friendly Landscaping™, sustainable gardening practices and plants that thrive in our local environment.

The Seed Library will launch at the Morningside Branch Library, with plans to expand the program to libraries throughout St. Lucie County in the future.

The Indrio Savannahs Preserve is now open to the public following an 18-month restoration project that reconnected the historic marsh system and restored freshwater wetland habitat.

Funded through the American Rescue Plan, the project reconnects a three-acre wetland to a former sand-mining lake, helping slow and naturally filter stormwater before it flows toward Taylor Creek and the Indian River Lagoon.

The project also added native wetland plants and a pedestrian boardwalk connecting visitors to trails on the western side of the preserve. View information on this preserve and many others by visiting www.stlucieco.gov/erd
