π Isaias β Saturday morning update
Hurricane Isaias came ashore Friday night near Destin as a strong Category 2 storm with 105 mph winds, and weakened overnight into a post-tropical system. The National Hurricane Center has issued its final advisory and all watches and warnings are dropped β but flash flooding and a tornado threat linger today across parts of the Panhandle, Alabama, and Georgia.
In Okaloosa County, emergency crews are out assessing damage this morning. Roughly 6 in 10 accounts in the county are without power (about 77,000 outages as of 6:30 a.m.), with 2β3 feet of flooding reported in Fort Walton Beach and downed trees and power lines across the Panhandle.
If you evacuated, please wait for your county's official all-clear before heading back. Today: don't drive through standing water, treat every downed line as live, and run generators outdoors only.
We'll keep passing along official updates. Stay safe out there. π€
