I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed as I navigate the world of 5th grade math with my daughter. It's quite challenging to wrap my head around this 'Box Method', for multiplication. It feels like trying to decipher a book written in an language.
I do understand the intention behind it. To help children grasp the concept of memorizing steps. However this method appears complex and confusing not, for kids but also for us parents who want to assist them.
I appreciate teaching techniques. When it comes to multiplication can we please stick to the good old fashioned approach?. Perhaps offer some resources for parents to catch up with these methods?
