It’s hard to find a great, all-encompassing picture of downtown Fort Worth— city skylines give generic stock photo vibes and don’t capture the old historical architecture, art, or parks nestled beneath newer high rises… but just focusing on vintage details would belie its evolving nature… There in is the beauty of discovering downtown Fort Worth. It’s truly a mix of old and new, the best of the west and a progressive place with a lot to look forward to.
I attended a great panel discussion today entitled “What’s Next for Downtown Fort Worth”. As an urban dweller for most of my adult life, I find the growth of the downtown area exciting in that what is already a very active and accessible downtown scene (you can actually find parking!) is making plans to welcome not only more tourism and commerce but residents too, with safety and enjoyment for all in mind.
Today I learned about:
_the $2.5 billion worth of development in the pipeline for downtown
_Many of these projects will serve the growth in the southern end of downtown, spurred on by the Texas A&M Fort Worth project and the new Convention Center
_The thoughtful development of Panther Island + Butler Place
_New plans for hotels, apartments, condos and conversions
_$50 million in park redevelopment + enhancement
Got any questions or want to go poke around downtown with me? Hit me up! I’d love to recommend some of my favorite spots or take you on a tour.
