Recently, I met a new friend who was interested in lending capital on real estate.
We had a phone conversation and later sat down to discuss what he was looking for in more detail.
As we talked, I learned that the money he wanted to invest wasn’t investment capital.
It wasn’t from an old retirement account.
It wasn’t money set aside for investing.
It was his own personal savings from just a few years of saving
After hearing his situation, I told him something he wasn’t expecting:
I couldn’t recommend my program.
Not because I didn’t want to work with him.
Because I didn’t believe it was the right next step for him.
My advice was simple:
Before considering private lending, focus on building a stronger financial foundation and work with a financial advisor to help reach your financial goals first.
Private lending isn’t the right fit for everyone.
And that’s okay.
The goal isn’t to convince people to invest.
The goal is to help people make good decisions with their money.
Sometimes that means moving forward.
Sometimes it means waiting.
Both can be the right answer.
