The weather report this morning, is music to my ears!!!οΏΌ οΏΌ looks like rain in the forecast for most of next week starting tonight! And next weekend high in the 80s! πππ and theyβre saying because of how dry the soil has been, it might not absorb very well and we could have a lot of runoff! When you live at the lake and itβs 6 1/2 feet down, that is great news! Whenever the rainfall total is 4 inches area wide, it can mean 8 inches difference in the lake because of the runoff. The lake gets the natural direct range for its square footage, but then everything around it slopes down towards the lake! So even with normal conditions, the lake can get double of the number of inches of rainfall but when itβs super dry or when itβs supersaturated already that number can multiply! No, Iβm not a weatherman or a scientist, but just rule of them numbers that Iβve seen as a lake house homeownerβ¦.. It can be triple! Like I said very round numbers, but 4 inches could mean 12 inches in the lake and thatβs when the whole area can get flash flooding! βFlash floodingβ means filling the lake! Back in 2015, the lake was even lower than it is now and my husband first moved here I told him the lake could fill up in two weeks and he didnβt believe me, but it happened ! The lake came backοΏΌ, as it always does! And on that note I will say and Iβve been saying- right now is a great time to buy a lake house because for one thing you can see how deep it is anywhere that itβs 6 feet or less not to mention you could probably get a little bit better deal right now. Quite a few have been sitting because they have no water, but as soon as the lake fills up, the market will be hot again!
