A big step forward for affordable housing on the coast! 👏

Today we celebrated the wall raising of Cypress Point in Moss Beach, bringing 71 affordable one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes closer to reality. A quarter of the homes will be reserved for agricultural households, with the remainder prioritized for locals through a live/work preference.

Cypress Point replaces a former military training ground with critically needed affordable family and workforce housing in Coastside San Mateo County. It is the first deed-restricted development in the MidCoast area, ensuring that the community remains affordable for years to come.

Thank you Assemblymember Marc Berman, Puente de la Costa Sur (PUENTE), and all our funding partners: County of San Mateo - Government, California Department of Housing & Community Development (Joe Serna, Jr. Farmworker Housing Grant and Multifamily Housing Programs), Wells Fargo , & California Tax Credit Allocation Committee.

Architect: Pyatok Architects

Contractor: Devcon Construction.

A major milestone for Brightwell West: we've received our Temporary Certificate of Occupancy!

This new 8-story community brings 75 affordable homes to the heart of San Francisco, transforming a once-vacant lot into housing close to schools, parks, jobs, transit, and neighborhood amenities.

Developed in partnership with the State of California and the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development, Brightwell West will serve households earning up to 30% to 120% of AMI, with a preference for San Francisco Unified School District and City College of San Francisco educators and staff.

We're excited to welcome residents home soon. 💫

Recent hires from across MidPen gathered at our Foster City office for the 90-Day New Hire Brunch with President & CEO Matt Franklin, an opportunity to exchange perspectives across roles and experiences at MidPen. Afterward came a professional development session focused on understanding strengths and communication styles.

Colleagues from Resident Services, Property Management, Accounting, Communications, Compliance, the People Team, and more spent the morning learning about themselves, building relationships and strengthening the culture of collaboration that drives our work every day.

We know that cultivating the exceptional talent of MidPenners helps our people grow as individuals, leaders, and teammates, and strengthens our ability to serve residents and communities. 💫

A joyful day celebrating the Grand Opening of Jessie Street Terrace in Santa Cruz! Most importantly, we're celebrating the residents who now have a place to call home.

Jessie Street Terrace transformed a former 14-room hotel into 50 affordable supportive housing apartments, including homes for veterans and people who have experienced homelessness. Today's celebration is only possible because of strong partnerships and shared commitment.

Special thanks to Gustavo Velasquez, Director of the California Department of Housing and Community Development, as well as local leaders Mayor Fred Keeley (Santa Cruz), Jenny Panetta, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz, and Dr. Robert Ratner, Director, Housing for Health, County of Santa Cruz.

Thank you to all our incredible partners who helped make this a reality: California Department of Housing & Community Development(HCD), including funding through the No Place Like Home Program, Veterans Housing and Homeless Prevention Program, Loan Portfolio Restructuring Program and California Housing Accelerator Program, Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz, JPMorganChase, Central California Alliance for Health, and Central Coast Community Energy.

Amazing energy in San Francisco last week as we kicked off the Yes on Measure C campaign!

Measure C would expand and renew the city's Housing Trust Fund, providing a reliable source of funding for affordable housing production and preservation across San Francisco.

We're grateful to Myrna Melgar 梅義加 District 7 Supervisor for her leadership in bringing Measure C forward and to Mayor Daniel Lurie for championing its vision. And thanks to the SF Board of Supervisors for their commitment to tackling San Francisco's housing crisis with their support.

We're excited to work alongside our partners this fall to help pass Measure C!

The best ideas often come from listening. This year, MidPen Resident Services launched the Resident Wellness Fund, offering grants to help residents address needs that strengthen their wellbeing.

We're celebrating one of this year's recipients and MidPen's Resident Services team, who turned insights from resident conversations into a new source of support.

MK used her award toward a tablet, which has made her telehealth appointments and remote patient support groups far more effective than trying to manage them on a phone.

“Telehealth has been a great benefit to me, but the appointments weren't as effective when I was trying to do them on a phone. This isn't a survival grant, it's a thriving grant. What do we actually need to thrive and improve our wellness? This really did that for me in a big way.”
