Mortgage rates averaged 6.51% as of Thursday, marking the highest level of 2026 and one of the largest weekly increases in at least a year. 📈
Experts say it is hard to know where borrowing costs are headed, but they foresee volatility remaining for the foreseeable future.
This is why I tell everyone looking to buy a new home, when you are ready - is the time to buy. If you were waiting 6 months ago for the rates to bottom out and missed out and now you're waiting all over again ... it's costing you. Yes, the "dramatic" mortgage payment difference between 5.99% and 6.51% is $150/mo on average. Not to mention the 6 months of equity (more now that you need to start searching all over), tax benefits, and piece of mind knowing you're in your new home, etc. And you're letting yourself and your family down for $150/month, probably less than your spending for your morning coffee/month. The choice is yours
