2) Think about painting and resealing your deck or wood balcony.

3) Deep clean any outdoor furniture before use.

4) Invest in some cozy throw pillows and outdoor blankets for chilly spring nights.

5) When in doubt, always add more plants!

Q: Can I get a mortgage if I'm self-employed? In short, yes! The longer answer? You might have some paperwork ahead of you.

If you happen to be your own boss, here are three questions to ask yourself before your next home purchase:

Is your financial house in order? When you're self-employed, mortgage companies are going to need to see extra documentation, so be sure that your debt is paid down and your credit score is solid.

Have you reviewed your documentation with your accountant? If you're self-employed, you may need documentation from your CPA you can before you apply, so be sure to give them a heads up before you start the application.

Do you clean before your cleaning service or housekeeper comes to clean your house?

Hate to break it to you, but our parents were right: it is a good idea to tidy up your home before your professional cleaner arrives to work their magic.

Here's why: If your sink is full of dishes and there's laundry piled up on the floor in the bathroom, your housekeeper is going to straighten it up for you. And depending on how often you have them, that might cut into the time that they could be spending deep cleaning your home and doing the things that you never get to: think baseboards, behind the toilets, refrigerator coils, and so on.

If your home is tidy when your cleaning service arrives, they might even be able to do some extra tasks that they won't have time to do if they're straightening up your office.

And of course, if you pay them by the hour, you can actually save money by handling some of the more ordinary household tasks yourself.

This is called the "Brighten Up Your Home Challenge," & with it, you can make your home a more inviting place to live.

👉 First, if you are looking to repaint, picking a neutral color for your wall paint is the way to go! This will look great with any decor that you choose.

👉 Next, you can opt for a lighter color rug. If you like colors, you can pick a faded light blue or faded orange- whichever color you are going for.

👉 You can also use lighter-colored curtains to keep that neutral look, & getting curtains that are a little thicker will help with A/C costs too.

👉 In addition, you can get some softer bulbs or some smart bulbs that you can control from your phone. There are a lot of different brands to choose from!

👉 Lastly, minimizing your wall decor can help your home feel less cluttered. Pick one big conversation piece for the room, add some accents or family photos & you're good to go!
