Thought I would share this information.

We’re at a critical moment in time with a mayoral election in November and the future of NYC Local Law 97 (LL97) on the line. Glen Oaks Village and other co-ops will soon be distributing flyers to educate and inform residents about the devastating impact LL97 will have on co–ops and the Mayoral candidates position on this issue.
LL97 will require co-ops to convert from affordable natural gas to individual electric heating units in each apartment. Every family would be billed directly by Con Ed with the highest electric rates in the nation, to heat their apartments in winter.
THIS ISN’T A MINOR POLICY—IT’S A DIRECT ASSAULT ON AFFORDABILITY OF OUR HOMES AND YOUR FINANCIAL STABILITY.
The choice we make for mayor in November will determine the future of LL97.
• LL97 will burden families with costs and drive monthly electric bills through the roof.
• LL97 will require multimillion-dollar building rewiring projects, paid by owners, to convert to electric heating as older co-op buildings have insufficient electrical capacity.
• LL97 will require punishing maintenance increases and crushing “LL97 Compliance Special Assessments” that will increase every year.
• Owners will face massive annual fines for any co-op or condo unable or unwilling to fully comply with LL97.
• Renters will see monthly rents skyrocketing as landlords pass these costs to tenants.
