I went to the East McEwen Rd project town hall last night. Here’s an update of what will begin this year to improve East/west access from I-65 to East Williamson Co along Wilson Pike(Ravenwood and Clovercroft school areas).
They have awarded the contract and a brief synopsis is in the screen shots. It’s supposed to start March/April timeframe of this year. It should take around three years to complete, but traffic flow will continue although it will be affected at times by the construction(occasionally 1 lane at times, etc). They are building the new road to the north of the existing road and it will be wider, straighter, and better lit. The existing road will be used to make a multi-use path and side walk(like the greenway). The total cost is $46 million, $30 million+ of that is being covered by federal grants. Supposedly the McEwen phase 5 will begin immediately following completion of this project (so 3 years from now) to go from Wilson Pike toward Sunset Blvd and eventually Nolensville.
These two links can give you more information. The first will be used for project updates while it’s progressing. The second is the full project page with more information including a FAQ document.
