I often attend “Breakfast With the Mayors”.. this morning our new county mayor Andy Marshall presented and talked about some of the things that are happening and being discussed. As a realtor, I want as deep an understanding as possible as to what’s happening in our county; it’s also very important to me as a resident of Franklin. Growth here continues and the county seems focused on accommodating current and future growth well:
-currently there are over $700m in planned projects by TDOT to address road and bridge needs.
-proposed i65 corridor study with hopeful federal support, to further address growth and traffic expectations.
-discussions for affordable housing for government, healthcare, law enforcement, military and other essential employees who work in the county but cannot afford to live here. They stated Fairview may end up being a spot where something like this starts and there is funding assistance in this area.
-Franklin city hall is slated for completion fall 2027 and will include 200 no-fee underground parking spaces. Parking is a big need downtown.
-a proposed new Franklin courthouse site is in discussion, the current courthouse is not safe nor adequate for needs today, per Franklin Mayor Moore.
Every meeting is a little different but it’s good to know that our government leadership sees the needs here and is working to improve areas of need.
