We’ve designed quite a few wine cellars over the years, and no two have looked quite the same.

From glass-enclosed wine rooms that become part of the architecture to tucked-away cellars with custom storage and a moodier feel, each one is designed around the home, the collection and, of course, how our clients actually want to use it.

Farmstead was designed to make the most of a pretty special setting.

The great room opens to the covered porch through 16-foot sliding doors, creating an easy connection to the outdoor kitchen and fireplace. Inside, the chef’s kitchen and generous living spaces give the home plenty of room for both everyday life and entertaining.

And the setting is a big part of what makes this home so memorable. Mature trees, a winding brook and plenty of privacy gave us an incredible backdrop to build around.

There’s a lot to love about a covered outdoor space like this, especially when it’s designed to be used for more than just one season.

A full outdoor kitchen makes summer dinners easy, while the fireplace gives everyone a reason to stay outside once the temperatures start to drop. Add in the vaulted wood ceiling, plenty of room to gather and a wide-open connection to the backyard, and this becomes a space that can really be part of everyday life.

Lighting is one of those details that can completely change a room, and this home gave us plenty of opportunities to have some fun with it.

From sculptural chandeliers and hand-blown glass to oversized fixtures that almost feel like works of art, each one was chosen to complement the room it lives in while giving it its own personality.
