Paving on Main Street began Sunday night. Crews began milling and paving on South Main Street at Jonesville Road. The work will continue up Main Street until crews reach Williams Street. Temporary markings are being drawn, with permanent striping to follow once paving is complete. Crews are working from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. to limit traffic impacts. Work is expected to last about two weeks.

Through-trucks with a weight greater than 13,000 lbs are prohibited on Main Street. This means that most dump trucks, tractor trailers, and other similar vehicle types that are passing through Town to get to NC 56 or to destinations outside of Town are prohibited from using Main Street. Through-truck traffic is prohibited on residential streets in the Town of Franklinton as well. Through-trucks should take US-1 to NC 56 rather than exiting onto Main Street or onto residential roadways. We greatly appreciate everyone’s assistance in improving the safety of our roadways and on minimizing the strain on our residential road infrastructure.
